INVESTIGATIVE DOSSIER:
ARAM ROSTON’S
SEPTEMBER 9, 2008, REQUEST FOR TODD PALIN’S
EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS
Introduction
Crivella West Incorporated (“Crivella West”) prepared this abbreviated Dossier based upon a document production made by the State of Alaska in response to a September 2008 public records request. The request at issue was initially made by Aram Roston, then a reporter with NBC News. Roston requested email communications to and from Todd Palin and Governor Sarah Palin in addition to certain staff members from the Governor’s Office. While Roston’s request was made in September of 2008, responsive documents were not produced until January 25, 2010. Crivella West, working in conjunction with msnbc.com investigative reporter Bill Dedman, obtained copies of this document production on February 1, 2010.
Crivella West utilized patented linguistic technological analysis to identify documents that could be logically related to issues specific to isolated areas of interest. This analysis was performed on 2,544 pages of documents responsive to the original Roston request. Crivella West has digitized this collection which it is hosted in its entirety, and by issue specific categories, at http://www.crivellawest.net.
The preliminary analysis which appears below is representative of a Dossier which Crivella West prepares for its clients in legal, academic and other fields. In short, a Dossier distills the linguistic, technologic and contextual analysis of issue specific matters. Quotations from source records in this Dossier are directly from the records produced by the State of Alaska, and thus, may be presented with the original grammatical, spelling and typographical errors in uncorrected format.
Crivella West's investigation of the records responsive to Roston's request revealed many emails pertaining to the Governor's schedule, scheduled events that Todd Palin, the First Gentleman or the Palin children may have also attended, mundane household items, and communications from Alaskans contacting the Governor about issues of concern to them personally, including numerous expressions of support for her children. The records included repeated instances where Todd Palin was copied on the Palin's administration forwarding of news articles and press releases to each other. The State of Alaska also provided with the responsive records a 36 page privilege log that listed many documents withheld on the basis of attorney-client, executive and deliberative process privileges as well as privacy. The responsive records do provide insight into some matters of interest related to Governor Palin and Todd Palin and highlight their communication styles.
Governor Palin’s Communications
When the Alaska creamery board announced a decision to close state-owned Matanuska Maid Dairy in 30 days - Governor Palin wrote to her brother, Chuck Heath, "I've not been so riled up in a long time over an issue- we HAVE to find solutions here." ROSTON 00412. When a representative of the Matanuska Maid Dairy employees, Barbara Huff, wrote to Joseph Balash, a member of Governor Palin's administration, that she had repeatedly requested a meeting with the Governor and had heard through a dairy employee "who talked to the Governor's husband, the Governor did not know about our letter"- Governor Palin fired off a response within minutes of receiving the email. ROSTON 00425 at 00426. "It had better be explained to her that yesterday is the FIRST I heard of the mtg request. I will call her if I don't hear that she's been notified asap." ROSTON 00425.
Governor Palin’s Communications with Glen Biegel
Also of interest are Governor Palin's communications with Glen Biegel, apparently a key constituent and supporter. In a September 12, 2007 email from Governor Palin to Glen Beigel, Governor Palin wrote an emotional and conciliatory response to Biegel's appearance on an Alaskan radio show. Copying only Todd Palin on the correspondence she wrote Biegel:
After yesterday it's been confirmed: The circle of confidants is so small in the world of politics, much less the circle of friends. Your comments and follow-on agreements with Fagan about his "more broken promises" claims, claims of pandering to media and not being conservative, etc, etc, etc…it was all heartbreaking…but eye-opening for me as the circle grew smaller right before my ears. My gosh Glen - playing into Fagan's accusation that I care more for Alaska's dairy cows than I do our kids?
ROSTON 00883.
Several days later, Governor Palin’s tone changed when she responded back to an e-mail from Biegel dated September 15, 2007, where Biegel wondered what he should speak about "on the air". ROSTON 00889 at 00890. Governor Palin stated: It doesn't seem wise to me for you to "make guesses" about anything, then speak about it on the air. I have not had the chance to sit down with the AG to speak about this, as your request is to speak to him, so though it's not wise, nor fair, to "make guesses" again on the air, I can not tell you what to say on air... I've already expressed the committment to help, the tasking of staff to gather more information so the board can more aggressively tackle the issues, I've insisted homeschoolers get adequate time to address the board... etc.
ROSTON 00889 at 00890.
Despite this exchange, Governor Palin and Glen Biegel's relationship appears to have continued to be close as Governor Palin included Biegel in correspondence between herself and key officials in her administration relating to the AGIA (Alaska Gasline Inducement Act) and tax rates for the participating gas shippers on December 13, 2007. She noted Biegel's unique status and wrote:
I sent this reply with all due respect, and in confidence between you and my administrators who have been working hard on getting Alaska's gasline project up and running. You know we can not share AGIA information until the conforming bid process is complete - and I'm not sure if you've read CP's proposal that they admit is outside the law. I trust you understand.
ROSTON 01234 at 1235.
Governor Palin’s Defense of Practices relating to Family
Other emails indicate Governor Palin's frustration at public criticism about her schedule and allegations of misuse of state resources. In an August 21, 2007 email to Kristina Perry, Governor’s Scheduler, Michael Tibbles, Chief of Staff, and Todd Palin about scheduling a meeting in Anchorage and Juneau to coordinate with Todd Palin's work schedule on the slope, Governor Palin cautioned that the information should be "Confidential bc people gossip too much about my sched already." ROSTON 00756. An entry in Andrew Halcro's blog referring to Ivy Frye, a Palin aide who also served as Director of Boards and Commissions, as the "babysitter", angered Governor Palin. The Governor wrote:
Ivy Have you EVER shuttled my kids on state time, ever? I know you have not. Halcro is a liar. The mainstream media going to him as a credible source is pathetic. Security has shuttled my kids from point A to point B, with their insistence that it's their job to work for/protect the First Family and they did it for other governors. If Halcro wants to gripe about that, let him take it up with Security.
ROSTON 01492 at 01494.
Todd Palin’s Communications
Emails written by Todd Palin contained in the responsive records were generally short statements, seldom exceeding one or two sentences. Two emails written in October 2007 were more revealing. On October 1, 2007, Todd Palin contacted Kristina Perry to request that she "[R]emind everybody that dad was offered to serve on an advisory committee, but he's not going to accept. For Miller to accuse my dad or me for any wrong doing is unbelievable and another reason for a needed change in AIDEA [Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority]." ROSTON 00960. Another report about Governor Palin's closest advisors (including Todd Palin) and the resignation of former Legislative Liaison John Bitney, prompted Todd Palin to write, "When I spoke with Harris I didn't mention Bitneys name at all. Bitney is a master at having other people do his dirty work, his co-workers. For Dillon to say that I have great influence (I don't) would only come from Bitney.” ROSTON 00970.
Travel Authorizations and Reimbursement
Several of the emails in the records responsive to the Roston request deal with the State of Alaska's policies regarding travel and cell phone/PDA (personal digital assistant) reimbursement. Sarah Palin wrote to Linda J. Perez, Director of Administrative Services, on June 19, 2007, seeking clarification about reimbursement for meals. Palin asked:
Am I supposed to be charging meals while I am away from Juneau? Or does per diem cover my meals- I haven't charged any meals to the state, just a couple of coffees while Outside during these six months in office. Am I doing this right? What about Todd's meals if he's traveling for First Gentlemen duties? Is the intent for his per diem to cover meals entirely, or was he to have been keeping receipts for reimbursements? What about family? I'd like to be real clear especially going into July where we've been asked if we can be away from Gov's House during renovations. Thanks Linda- sorry to bug you about policy I'm still not clear on.
ROSTON 00591 at 00593.
In a lengthy explanation, Perez indicated the Governor could use the state credit card to purchase meals and that Alaska's per diem policy of $60.00 per day for meal expenses made it unnecessary for either Sarah or Todd Palin to keep receipts for meals. In the event that Palin opted to use the state credit card for meals, the state would reconcile the charges per day with the allowed per diem. Perez went on to state:
[A]s you are the state employee and your duty station is Juneau, you are in travel status the entire time you are out of Juneau unless you advise us otherwise. For Mr. Palin and your family, if they travel on official business or in their official capacity as the First Family, we view them as being in travel status for: the duration of travel to and from an event and for the actual time spent at the event for meal allowance purposes (unless the meal was provided.) As requested, we have not paid any meal allowances for your daughters to date.
ROSTON 00591.
Further clarification concerning expense reimbursement was provided by Erika Fagerstrom, Executive Residence Manager & Assistant, in an email to the First Gentleman on July 11, 2007. Fagerstrom explained that "TAs" (travel authorizations) were created any time that Mr. Palin or his children traveled over 50 miles and were gone for more than 12 hours. Fagerstrom further stated that she had reviewed Todd Palin's travel information with the state employee responsible for travel to make sure that she was not missing any of his "TAs". "IF any corrections need to be made just let me know- as they're still a work in progress until they're signed with your approval….This will help me make sure that you're receiving ALL of the per diems and compensation that you're due. I hope this makes sense and isn't too big of a hassle." ROSTON 00652 (emphasis in the original).
Keeping the Governor and First Family’s authorized travel expenses up to date appears to have been one of Fagerstrom's main job responsibilities. Fagerstrom generally corresponded with Todd Palin to sort out details needed for expense authorization. In a typical example, Fagerstrom sent an email to Todd Palin on February 28, 2007, with a subject line referencing “TA, NGA, Piper’s skates, Interview”:
When you get a chance could you let me know what flight you traveled on and if you have any expenses (receipts) that you need to be reimbursed for. Your TAs end when you return to Anchorage, so that's when I start to bother you about getting boarding passes, receipts, etc... to me. You could drop them off in an envelope at any of the Governor's offices, and just address it: Erika Fagerstrom- Governor's House, Juneau, and the state mail system will get it to me.
ROSTON 00022 (emphasis in original).
During this particular trip, the First Gentleman attended the National Governors Association (“NGA”) conference in Washington DC, which took place from February 20, 2007 through February 27, 2007. Just prior to the NGA conference, Mr. Palin participated in the Iron Dog, an almost 2,000 mile snowmobile race. This was noted by Fagerstrom who quipped, “Seems like it would be hard to go from this intense- physically taxing snowmobile race- to sitting in a room listening to conference speakers.” ROSTON 00022.
In fact, the First Family travel often left Fagerstrom seeking justification for TAs. For example, on June 5, 2007, Fagerstrom sent an email to Kari Spencer, Director Office of Governor, and Kristina Perry, with copy to Todd Palin concerning Willow’s travel to Alaska. Fagerstrom wrote:
My understanding is that Willow will be arriving in Juneau this Thursday and she will be flying to Anchorage on Friday (6/8). I did not see any family events up in the Anchorage area listed on the calendar- between now and when they travel back this way for the Ketchikan and Juneau events (6/16 and 6/18). Do either of you know of ANY family events that are not on the calendar? I'm sure there's something I'm not aware of, but since Willow's TAs originate from Juneau I'll need a purpose before I can have a ticket purchased.
ROSTON 00319 (emphasis in the original).
A June 19, 2007 email from Fagerstrom to Todd Palin shows that a TA was prepared for Willow indicating that she did travel from Juneau to Anchorage, a day later than Fagerstrom previously indicated, on June 9, 2007. In her email, Fagerstrom inquires whether Willow attended any of three events listed on the Governor’s calendar for the timeframe of Willow’s travels. ROSTON 00524. Todd Palin responded the same day confirming Willow’s attendance at the Global Food Award, which was in fact on the Governor’s calendar. ROSTON 00530.
State and Personal Mobile Phone/PDA Use and Reimbursement
The responsive records also include several emails where State of Alaska employees as well as Governor Palin seek clarification about reimbursement of mobile phones/PDAs. On January 17, 2008, Kim Garnero, Director of Finance, distributed two documents to state employees updating them on the tax policies for electronic property and providing them with a property authorization for employees issued electronic property owned by the State of Alaska. In that email, Garnero stated that in an effort to simplify reporting, the substantiation standard for supporting business use of the state-owned mobile phones/PDAs would require the employee to identify personal use only instead of requiring the employee to support all business use. ROSTON 01386 at 01387.
In response to that communication, Governor Palin forwarded an email to Frank (presumably Frank Bailey, Director, Boards and Commissions), other administration officials and Todd Palin, where she questioned the practicality of the policy:
Doesn't it still just make more sense to get personal blackberry and soley use that? No way in heck do I have time to track what's business and what's not. (Shoot- if "vacation time" like today is any indication of "off-state time" time, after receiving and sending umpteen emails and calls these past few days - then it's a whack system to have to consider ANY time is "personal time", and most every call/email should not have to be decifered re: percent of time that's spent "personally".
ROSTON 01386.
Members of Palin's administration continued to seek further clarification regarding the specifics of the state's policies regarding personal and state business use of mobile phones/PDAs, particularly the confidentiality of personal versus state business emails sent and received from personal and state-owned devices. On March 17, 2008, Ivy Frye sent a series of questions to Kim Garnero quizzing her about the confidentiality of emails on a "personal device" and what type of situation might "constitute subpoena of personal e-mails". ROSTON 01715 at 01717. Frye reported back to Governor Palin, Todd Palin, Frank Bailey and Kristina Perry that "[Q]uestions of confidentiality are still unanswered by Law. Kim Garnero, Finance director, thinks that personal emails on a personal device would be confidential and not subject to subpoena, however the question is still unanswered by Law….I'll also ask if personal emails have always been routed through the state server." ROSTON 01715.
On March 25, 2007, Frye forwarded an email from Kim Garnero to Governor Palin, Todd Palin, Bailey and Perry that clarified, "Your PDA can be configured to have both a state email and personal email account. State email goes through the ETS server; personal email doesn't (like a Yahoo account, it goes directly over the internet into the device." ROSTON 01765.
CONCLUSION
The State of Alaska’s production to Roston’s public records request provides a unique insight from the perspective of the First Gentlemen into Sarah Palin’s tenure as Alaska’s Governor. With a preliminary look at this collection, this dossier reveals the Governor and her staff at times struggled to understand and maintain distinctions between official business and personal use – whether it related to mobile phone usage or to travel inside and out of the expansive state of Alaska. Given the sometimes blurred line between official and personal business matters, a reader of the emails can glean insight into the unique communication style Governor Palin has become known for and which is shared by the former First Gentleman, Todd Palin.

RE: Meals
You certainly may use the state credit card to purchase meals. In Alaska, the daily meal allowance
(per diem) is $60.00 per day and covers breakfast ($12.00), lunch ($16.00) and dinner ($32.00).
Outside the state the allowance follows federal per diem and varies by location. You and Mr. Palin
do not need to keep receipts for meals as we are only able to reimburse/pay the allowance amount.
These meal allowance limits apply only to your personal meals. The specific meal "allowance" would
not apply to the cost of your or the First Gentleman/family meals at official lunches or dinners, etc.,
that you, as Governor, may host while on travel status.
In travel status, you are entitled to the meal allowances except for in those instances where meals
are provided... ie, if lunch is provided to you at an official event, your daily meal allowance
reimbursement would be reduced by the lunch portion. If you use the state credit card for meals,
when we process the TA close-out, we either pay you any additional eligible meal allowance or we
deduct over-charges from other reimbursement checks. For example, if you charge $40.00 for meals
on a given day you will be reimbursed an additional $20 for that day. If your state credit card meal
charges.are $70.00 for a day, we will deduct $10.00 from your overall reimbursements. We do need
to know if the card charges include meals for other travelers in addition to yourself. That way we can
include all eligible meal allowances when determining if additional meal allowance is to be
reimbursed or if a portion of the charges need to be reduced from other or future reimbursements.
Governor, as you are the state employee and your duty station is Juneau, you are in travel status the
entire time you are out of Juneau unless you advise us otherwise. For Mr. Palin and your family, if
they travel on official business or in their official capacity as the First Family, we view them as being
in travel status for: the duration of travel to and from an event and for the actual time spent at the
event for meal allowance purposes (unless the meal was provided.) As requested, we have not paid
any meal allowances for your daughters to date. But as I mentioned to Mr. Palin, at any time you or
Mr. Palin request, we will calculate and pay applicable meal allowances for any of your daughters'
trips.
For Mr. Palin's official travel we are reimbursing for meal allowances when we receive enough
information to close out the TA. I believe we are 'batching' Mr. Palin's reimbursements so each trip
does not generate a check but rather one check for several trips . I would be happy to provide a

breakdown of what's been reimbursed and what's still pending that we're aware of to date. On your
travel and the family's travel, we're unable to complete final processing until my shop receives the
travel schedules and trip specifics and in some instances we may still be waiting information to close
out TAs. Anytime you do not want a meal reimbursement we've included on a TA, please just
scratch it out when we send the TA to you for review and signature and we will adjust the payment
calculations.
Sorry to be so long-winded. Please let me know if you want any further info or specific travel
reimbursement breakdowns, etc.
Thank you,

Kari - pis forward to Linda Perez:
Am I supposed to be charging meals while I am away from Juneau? Or does per diem cover my
meals - I haven't charged any meals to the state, just a couple of coffees while Outside during these
six months in office. Am I doing this right?
What about Todd's meals if he's traveling for First Gentlemen duties? Is the intent for his per diem to
cover meals entirely, or was he to have been keeping receipts for reimbursements? What about
family?
I'd like to be real clear especially going into July where we've been asked if we can be away from
Gov's House during renovations.
Thanks Linda- sorry to bug you about policy I'm still not clear on.
Thanks! SP

Canada tries the whole shutting down of Welfare offices. It was an absolute failure.
Introduction:
When Canada tried to implement this type of service, they never stopped using facve to face interview processes which are very important to determine if there is fraud involved. Also, the system managed to make many overpayments, and also many other problems were recorded. Further, in the US it is against the law to not provide services in the communities in which people live that are vital, such as health care, social security benefits, welfare, ect. Because Hawaii is a unique state, where land masses are separwsted by water, and only acessible by plane or boat, which is an undue financial burden for someone who has to get paperwok to workers, and operates on strict deadlines, or you lose access to benefits, shutting down regional offices is quite ridiculous. On Kauai there is ONE HCDCH office for the entire Island. Face to Face interviews are requited. Traveling time is difficult at best for some people. Eliminating face to face, also eliminates the human element and individuality of each circumstance of each individual application. It is akin to going to the doctor, but never seeing the doctor. This is a class action lawsuit ready to happen. And, It will.

FUll Blown analysis of every statement trying to implicate liberal thought, or the Democratic Party, ect, to what this peice of ridiculous propaganda by Beck is trying to say., Besides the HORRIBLE copycat acting of Beck, trying to act like a real investigative reporter, and the ridiculous Glasses He tried to wear in the first video, but was gone for the rest of the video, I will pick apart the extreme rights REAL agenda. And if it wasn't for Glenn Beck I could not have done it. THANKS GLEN!!
The extreme right has a truly interesting base philosophical base, a mishmash of religious conservative ideology, cold war fear, and a confusing abhorrance for extreme right wing regimes, such as Hitler and Stalin, yet twists them around somehow, to be a liberal thinking philosophy. THis video makes the shocking defense of Adolf Hitlers regime as "nowhere near as bad as", other, more "liberal regimes, such as Mao Se Dong, and Che Guerra, using all of these past dictators, as somehow stating "We cannopt let this happen again, America and Americans must be vigilant."
In the first video, a picture of President Obama flashes. THen a look at Nazism and Hitler and Stalin. SPeaking of the Adoration of Hitler and Stalin, all of the insinuations of Beck are very thinly veiled, you can see right through them "Obama is revered just like Hitler was. Obama was for social programs, health care, ect. SO was Hitler.", He is not saying it outright but the implication is clear even to a fifth grader.

NO TO THEOCRACY YES TO SECULAR DEMOCRACY
A Theocracy or a Secular Democracy?
I feel the time for me to speak out on my feelings regarding “Pro-lifers”, “Anti-gay” Activists, “Anti Contraception” activists, “Tea party activists”, and Right Wing Christian Extremists.
I do not want to live in a Theocracy. The definition of a Theocracy is: A system of Government where God or a diety is held to be the civil ruler, or a political unit governed by a diety (Or by officials believed to be divinely guided).
World Theocracies include: Iran,Vatican City,Saudi Arabia, Israel, Nepal, Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan., and many African and South American Military Regime countries.
I feel that people who do not want to live in a Secular Democracy, which include the Untied States, should seek citizenship elsewhere.
In the case of “Pro Lifers”, the only reason why a woman feels the need to have an abortion is because some man in her life didn't have enough sense to put on a condom first. Men are the sole cause of pregnancies in women, since women cannot “get themselves pregnant”. Therefore it is men that hold the sole responsibility for each and every pregnancy in this country. Until the men will step foreward and take responsibility for their children, legal, safe abortions are the right of every woman who chooses to abort pregnancies . This is not Iraq or Afghanistan where women are forced to have children even in the case of rape, incest, or force. In those societies single parents are ostrasized. It is worse than death. Some may even be killed for becoming pregnant out of wedlock. Men rule in these theocracies and women and children have absolutely no rights at all.
In Theocracies, women can sometimes not even vote or go out of the house, or go out without being covered from head to toe. Murdering your wife, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt or any member of your female family members are not illegal. When women are raped, they go to jail for fornicating. The man usually goes free, since the women is usually blamed for the crime. In many Theocracies, female mutilation is common, and polygamy is common. In many theocracies you cannot have freedom of the press or freedom of speech. There is not freedom to think for oneself, or protest against your government. You must all be of the national religion, and you must do as religious leaders tell you to do. In many Theocracies there are no social services at all such as food stamps and help for single parents. In Theocracies there is no health care.
There is no housing. In many theocracies there is on ly war, strife, poverty, and rampant disease, lack of medical facilities and clean water. In Theocracies, since abortion, and all contraception are not allowed there is population explosions, high infant mortality rates, and women have a very short life expectancy., thus leaving many children orphaned, since many men are killed during frequent wars. In some Islamic countries you have a choice as a gay person to either have a forced sex change operation, and life as the opposite gender, with loss of all rights as a male, or jailed, and possibly tortured and killed. In some African countries, women whose men have been killed, and their children killed and murdered, are then raped and then forced to keep the children, and then watch them die of starvation and AID's since there are no services or care for them. Many of these women die, leaving the children of the rapists completely homeless and orphaned.
Is this what you have in mind, when you attempt to insert religion into every facet of our governing the United States? Is this idea of a Theocracy what you have in mind when you call yourself a “Patriot”?
I suggest you all think very carefully about what living in a Secular Democracy really means. It means we are not Iran, Iraq or Afghanistan., but America, a Secular Democracy where we pay taxes so that popel can have services, where people have freedom, where women are not treated as cattle and baby factories, and people of a different gender can have relationships, where there is freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Where it is illegal to rape women, to force them to give birth in the case of rape, incest and medical jeopardy. Where it is illegal to kill your wife, where men can be held responsible for their children to a certain degree, and where women do not have to cover themselves from head to toe if they choose to or share their husbands with three other women. Where women can vote, and have property rights, and be a single woman when the man abandons her, she can get help for herself and her children, she has the right of divorce as well.
I for one am not going to give up my rights and freedoms and live in a Theocracy for anyone.
I feel the time for me to speak out on my feelings regarding “Pro-lifers”, “Anti-gay” Activists, “Anti Contraception” activists, “Tea party activists”, and Right Wing Christian Extremists.

My reaction to the HB444 Rally-APPALLED AND DISGUSTED
Thousands rally against same-sex civil unions bill | honoluluadvertiser.com | The Honolulu Advertiser
MY OFFICIAL RESPONSE
You might want to examine the actions of the "Rabbi Daniel Vargas", who, according to legitimate synagogues is NOT an ordained rabbi, and his screaming that the buildings should fall and the city should be destroyed and then having people blow 10 ram horns was considered highly blasphemous to the Jewish faith. Also, Mufi Hanneman and Duke Aiona are public servants and have a conflict of interest by showing up and espousing their religious beliefs at the state capitol which is not Gods house but ALL OF THE POEPLE'S HOUSE, including taxpaying gay legal citizens of the state of Hawaii. What that means, is that by association, these two politicians were in favor of crashing down buildings by blowing ram horns, and therefore share in the fake rabbis blasphemous sin of misusing the name of another legitimate religious belief. Truly shameful.
Were all of you wearing white because you think yourself more pure than the rest of the people in this state? It was quite gruesome, and I found the videos of the event quite disturbing. Native Hawaiians believed the color white to be the color of evil, and it was the color of all practicing anaana kahunas (ie the ones that prayed people to death). It is also the color used in voodoo ceremonies to pray an enemy to death. That, coupled with the screaming fake rabbi calling for the destruction of public property was nothing to be proud of.
Further, civil unions have nothing to do with religious marriage practices, and will not affect YOUR marriage status at all, therefore I do not understand what your issue is with a secular process, since it has nothing to do with any of your religious beliefs, since according to all of you gays are not permitted in all of your religions, why would you have a problem with it? Its not as if they will be joining any of you in your churches or religions anyway.
SO why don't you just stick to your religious beliefs and practice whatever you want to in your religious life, and leave the secular civil unions alone? It really has nothing to do with any of you, and is not about any of you, and none of you have any stake in it what so ever. Frankly it is none of your business. Further, I am apalled that Mufi who claims to be a Democrat would publicly attend an event like this, and be openly prejudiced against people. I thought only republicans did that shame on all of you. For the record, I am not gay., but straight.
Further, it is entirely reprehensible to me that so many people could be whipped into a frenzy over religious zealotism. Haven't you people learned anything from Jihadist terrorist groups making Islam look like a mockery of itself. You are nothing more than terrorists. Yes terrorists. You are inciting violence against your fellow human beings, you are publicly supporting prejudice, and you are coming out in force to say that some people do not deserve the same CIVIL RIGHTS as you do. WHen I see people of color, and young people in those crowds that's when I really become sick to my stomach.
How many of you are aware that people of color could NOT HOLD OFFICE IN THE MORMON CHURCH as recently as the 80s!!!! And that would include MUFI HANNEMAN!!! I was once enrolled in the Mormon church and was a convert. Not anymore. I found the more I realized what that religion was all about the least I wanted to do with it. I was grown up as a DEVOUT CATHOLIC!!! ANd I was so devout, I went to a Catholic private school, and believed in the church wholeheartedly. That was until all the priests started molesting little boys and girls, and I found out the histories of abuse, murder, torture and mayhem perpetuated in the name of Christ by the Catholic church. What are all of you talking about anyways? Is traditional marriage truly traditional?
I happen to know no fewer than THREE MORMON BISHOPS that have left their wives and children to fool around with mistresses. HOW IS THIS TRADTIONAL FAMILY VALUES? That really turned me off to the Mormon Church permanently and forever. But this show of prejudice, hate and fearmongering is the last straw for me. Do not expect me to stand by while all of you espouse your holy perfections and holier than thou attitudes while you continue to belong to religions that support such reprehensible beliefs. If Christ was here, he would throw you all out of the House of the Lord, let me tell you that. Christ was very political. All of you are like the Pharisees in the bible, which you all claim to espouse so perfectly.
The Pharisees were the conservative, judgmental law of the land who thought they were the be all and the end all of moral values. Christ ran around with 12 men, kissed them publicly on the cheek regularly and was unmarried and had no children. If Christ were alive today, you people all gathered there with your self righteous pompous attitudes would have surely accused him of being gay. DO NOT LIE because you KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE. You would be the ones to have condemned him, nailed him to a cross, and killed Christ, who would have died for your idiocy and stupidity. SO DO NOT TELL ME that you are all about CHRIST!!
There is NOTHING CHRISTLIKE in ANY of you, at all. I remain forever disgusted and embarrassed for each and every single one of you. When your time comes you will be most certainly judged. I am no longer a Christian, but I do believe in Christ. Believing in Christ is far different from being these modern styled self righteous judgmental prejudiced people that these individuals have become. Sickening. Shame.

WORDS SCEWED BY RADICAL RIGHT EXTREMISTS:Dem Candidate: Devout Catholics 'Probably Shouldn't Work in the Emergency Room'
Dem Candidate: Devout Catholics 'Probably Shouldn't Work in the Emergency Room'
Ok, Let us be real clear about what the Democratic candidate was saying. Essentially it is pretty crystal clear, except if you are trying to twist her words to serve your own personal agenda.
If you are a health care worker, your job is not to deny items that could save a life and prevent the spread of deadly diseases becasue of your personal religious beliefs. If that is a problem for you, then pick another feild to work in,. The medical field is not a church where your religious beliefs rule the day. You are there to provide life saving medical care, not deny that care based on your beliefs. It is the same premise that supposes if you were a teacher, but you found teaching math, science and english a burden for you because of your religious beliefs. So, the assumption is that maybe you don't belong in a classroom teaching then. Let is not let word twisting rhetoric that is so obviously being applied here skew the facts. I would be appalled if medical care for me was held back because of someones religious beliefs no matter what religion that is. Suppose someone had a deeply held religious belief that women should not receive an emergency c section because they believe only in vaginal birth because god ordains it that way or something? Come on, people GROW UP!!

Let Us Hope It deosn't SINK! "Superferry To Be Used for Haitian EQ Relief"
Superferry To Be Used for Haitian EQ Relief
I find this facinating, since all of the ports of Haiti are completely destroyed, and it is going on one week since the disaster, and there is no way that the SF could have been used for immediate releif, becasue there are no workable ports at this time at PoP. Now, if the SF is being used this way, good for it. However, it does not mean that what happened to the SF in Hawaii was a bad thing. The ship belongs in military use, obviously. However, what do SF proponents have to say about other SF which sank with passengers aboard earlier this year? Im just sayin, people.

MANILA, Philippines—The text messages to relatives came early Sunday from passengers aboard the SuperFerry 9 midway on a voyage from General Santos City to Iloilo City that the vessel carrying more than 900 people was listing to its starboard side.
Rosalie Solarte, 40, said she called her husband Alberto, 52, at around 5:30 a.m.
“He said he was about to jump from the ship,” said Solarte, one of about 20 people who had rushed to the Iloilo port to ask about the fate of their relatives aboard the ill-fated vessel.
“I told him to wait and observe first what is happening. I can’t contact him now,” the Guimaras resident told the Inquirer.
As dawn broke in waters off the Zamboanga peninsula on a clear day, the SuperFerry 9 had capsized, according to officials, leaving at least twelve people dead in the panic and scramble for the exits.
Coast Guard chief Adm. Wilfredo Tamayo said that as of 9 p.m. Sunday night, 926 survivors had been rescued—some of them on life rafts—by two commercial ships and several Philippine Navy vessels and taken to Zamboanga City.
A search was under way for more than 30 people who remained missing, Tamayo said, adding that they may have drifted with their life jackets or have been rescued but were not yet listed as survivors.
“We really hope they’re just unaccounted for due to the confusion,” Tamayo said.
Navy ships were deployed and Air Force helicopters scoured the seas, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro said.
The US military station in Zamboanga City conducting antiterrorist training dispatched a support vessel with a medical team to help in the search.
Survivor Raffy Borro said it was his first time to see babies and children thrown out to the water as their mothers cried.
"Parang Titanic Filipino-style. Para kaming nasa pelikula pero totoo talaga (It was like Titanic Filipino-style. It was like being in a movie scene but this was all real)," Borro told the Inquirer.
He reported a shortage in life jackets and life rafts.
"Agawan. Maginaw. Madilim. Kaya natakot lahat tumalon sa dagat. Noong mabilis ang pagtagilid, ang daming tumakbo at nag-panic, maraming natakot. Ang mga bata nag-iiyakan, mga magulang iyakan hingi ng tulong (People were grappling for life jackets. It was cold. Dark. That’s why people were so scared, they just jumped into the sea. When we felt the ship listing fast, many ran and panicked. The kids were crying and the parents were wailing for help)," Borro recalled.
Passenger Chelona Pabit of Trento town in Agusan province said she saw babies and children being thrown out of the boat. "It was like you were leaving it all up to fate on who will survive," Pabit said.
Before leaving the General Santos City port Saturday morning, Pabit said, she heard a loud bang below the boat.
"Then the boat started to tilt. We were travelling on a tilted boat," Pabit said.
Pabit said she even asked a ship crew why the boat was tilted, and all the response was: "strong wind and waves."
Romeo Billano, 62, had the same observation.
"It was like a container van slammed on the wall below," Billano said.
"There were no big waves. The weather was fine," he added.
All Billano had with him as he jumped off the boat was a piece of paper where the mobile phone number of his daughter was written.
Roderick Teves, a driver and one of the survivors, told Bombo Radyo-GenSan in a mobile phone interview that 19 crew members of Tanging Pamilya were aboard the ill-fated ferry.
But Teves said only nine of them were rescued.
"I don't know whether my 10 other colleagues were rescued by other vessels who helped in the rescue efforts," he said in Tagalog.
Teves identified eight co-workers who were saved with him as Joe Carlo Aquino, Joseph Noble, Raniel Billones, Manuel Malixi, Victor Gevilo, Mike Lungos, John Michael Roselo and Gaspar Capalar Jr.
Teves, a resident of Libis, Quezon City, claimed that their equipment and two service trucks sank with the vessel.
He revealed that around 2 a.m., the passenger ship tilted to the right, when container vans apparently slid to the right.
"I guess the ship lost its balance. We were on the vessel waiting for the rescue. Other passengers who panicked grabbed life jackets and jumped off the ship," he said.
Cause of sinking unclear
The cause of the listing was not clear.
The ferry skipper, Joel Yap, initially ordered everyone on board to abandon the ship as a precautionary step, said Jess Supan, vice president of Aboitiz Transport System, which owns the steel-hulled ferry built in Japan in 1986.
Supan said the vessel carried 847 passengers, a crew of 117 and four sea marshals.
Supan ruled out a terrorist attack as the cause of the disaster, similar to the February 2004 assault carried out by the Abu Sayyaf bandit group on SuperFerry 14 that killed 116 people aboard.
But survivor Jude Borro, a resident of General Santos, belied the claim of Supan that the vessel captain gave instructions to passengers to abandon ship.
"There was no instruction from the captain. The ship's crew were even the first to jump off the vessel. The passengers helped each other," Borro said during the same interview.
Borro said the SuperFerry 9 was apparently overloaded.
Borro claimed that about two hours after cruising past Zamboanga City, he heard a thunderous noise from under the vessel where the container vans where loaded.
There were reports that the ferry listed to the right due to a hole in the hull, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said.
Potential oil spill
The 7,000-ton vessel was carrying 220 tons of fuel oil, Supan said, adding that the salvage ship Harbour had been sent to the area to contain any possible oil spill.
He said the Coast Guard had also called a team from Palawan with oil booms and oil dispersants.
Passenger Roger Cinciron told dzMM radio by cell phone that he felt the ferry was tilting around midnight, but he was assured by a crewman that everything was well.
About two hours later, he was roused from sleep by the sound of crashing cargo below his cabin, he said.
“People began to panic because the ship was really tilting,” he said as he waited for rescuers to save him and a group of more than 20 other passengers.
The ferry, which left General Santos City at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and was scheduled to arrive in Iloilo at 2 p.m. Sunday, ran into problems midway and began to list about 15 kilometers from the nearest shore, Tamayo said.
Fair weather
The weather was generally fair in the vicinity of the Zamboanga peninsula, although a tropical storm was battering the country’s north, the Coast Guard said.
SuperFerry 9 “encountered an undefined problem 17.5 nautical miles off Sibuco Port, Zamboanga del Norte, at 3:35 a.m.,” the maritime police said.
The ship captain then instructed passengers and crew to abandon the sinking vessel, which at the time continued to list to its starboard side.
In its 8:30 a.m. update Sunday, the Philippine Navy said the vessel had already capsized with “bottom hull sighted” some 5.2 nautical miles southwest of Tulalu Point, Sibuco Bay.
Previous accidents
Last year, the MV Princess of the Stars overturned after sailing toward a powerful typhoon off Romblon, killing more than 800 people on board.
In December 1987, the MV Doña Paz sank after colliding with a fuel tanker in the Philippines, killing more than 4,341 people in the world’s worst peacetime maritime disaster.
Among those in the Iloilo port waiting for word of survivors was Elvira Casumlon, 71, of Badiangan town in Iloilo province. Her son, Pepito Jr., 31, was aboard the vessel, traveling with his wife Lita, 36, 7-year-old son Christopher and neighbor Sueden Bolero.
‘I pray that they’re safe’
“I last heard from them Saturday morning when the ship left. I kept on calling them but I failed to contact them,” Elvira said.
Teresita Monijaque from Leganes town in Iloilo has been sending text messages and dialing her cell phone in the hope of reaching her 29-year-old son Jobert and 3-year-old granddaughter Name.
“He sent a text message around 3:15 a.m. that the boat was sinking. I pray that they’re safe,” she said.
Others who arrived early at the shipping port to fetch their kin were shocked to hear that the ship sank.
“I only knew what happened when I got here,” said Giovanni Projio, who came from Sigma town in Capiz province to meet his father-in-law.
Frantic calls from relatives swamped radio stations who covered the rescue operations. Others waited at the radio stations which were trying to call passengers. With reports from Tarra Quismundo, Riza T. Olchondra, Amy Remo, Marlon Ramos, Kristine L. Alave and Nikko Dizon in Manila; Nestor P. Burgos Jr., Inquirer Visayas; Julie Alipala and Aquiles Zonio, Inquirer Mindanao, and Associated Press

IS THE JEWISH RELIGION BEING MOCKED IN THIS PROTEST AGAINST GAYS??
Apparantly the answer is YES. In what has become my very first crack at "investigative reporting", I knew something was up when I saw this video. When The nice Rabbi gets all these 12 sacred horns, and has people hold and blow them that aren't of the Jewish faith, while wearing the sacred prayer shawls of the Jewish people, I was immediately alerted to protocol red lights going off in my head.
Maybe it is because I am a cultural practitioner, and I have seen so many many people ripping off the Hawaiian, Buddhist, Hindu, and Native American and Amazonian and South American tribal customs that the hairs stood out at the back of my neck. And it was NOT the costuming!~!
It was what the "Rabbi" was screaming at the top of his lungs..."GOD SAID LET THE BUILDINGS FALL LET THE CITY BE DESTROYED LET THE CITY BE DESTROYED!!", in apparently a re enactment of the "Walls of Jericho" incident in the bible/Torah.
Now, I smelled a RAT. A great big fat one that you could saddle up and ride if you could. SO I started investigating. I called my friend Mr. DePledge over at the Honolulu Advertiser, who gave me the name of the gentleman responsible for calling on the destruction of concrete buildings, while people in Haiti were crawling out from their own destructive earthquake which the "Reverend" Pat Robertson had just declared was "Their fault because they made a pact with the devil". (More on that on my blog).
Then, from there, I tracked him down to the GovernorsPrayerTeam website, calling the coordinator, who I did reach on the mainland. Turns out it was an old number, and the gentleman is no longer a part of the organization.
Well, I decided to unload on the poor guy anyways. Come to find out he was triple X shocked art what I told him, and he said that no Christian group or Jewish group would call on the destruction of buildings which would surely lead to loss of life.
It was then I realized, from looking back at the video I thought I saw someone blowing the horn that was from Kauai and a very prominent leader and an old freind of mine, and certainly not Jewish. But I am thinking maybe my eyes are bad, S so I am asking around trying to see if others think it is that person before I call that person up and give that person a decided piece of my mind.
Ah, but back to the Rabbi. So I tried to call him, but he wasnt taking calls it seems. The gentlemans name, "Rabbi" Daniel Jeshurin Vargas was the man in question. Now before I go on about someone, I need facts, so I called up one of the terrific Synagogues here, on Oahu, and got a terrific person on the other end who was frankly shocked and appalled as well.
I was told, that this person was known and was NOT A RABBI, but believed in coverting Jews to Christianity, or believed in some form of Jewish beliefs and Christianity all mixed up into one another. When I detailed the specifics of the ceremony again, the person was very shocked. I did get their views on civil unions and gays, which I actually found quite reasonable.
But I was told decidedly that his behavior was absolutely NOT CONDONED by the Jewish faith, and that Jewish people would NEVER CALL FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS OR LOSS OF LIFE> I also learned that again, this "Rabbi" is no Rabbi at all, and is not in any way connected to any legitimate ordained order or sect of the Jewiosh faith.
Then I sent this person, who was with the Chabad Of Hawaii (I did get permission to use the name) emphaticly stated several things:
1. The Jewish community would never condone such behavior
2. He is NOT an ordained Rabbi
3. The Jewish Community is not coming out against civil unions
4. What he did is completely against any type of Jewish faith.
5. He may be of Jewish ancestry, but is NOT a Rabbi
6. It was highly sacriligious to use such sacred items in such a way
So, to Mr. Vargas, I would like you to know that I will make sure people know about you, and your blasphemous group, and how you blasphemed the Jewish religion and faith by your actions. Shame and HEWA.
Of course, I realized after watching the video again how funny it was, if your idea had actually worked, the people were all crowded into the rotunda, thousands would have died, if the building had indeed fallen, and the city of Honolulu, had you been right and the horns would have destroyed the city, hundreds of thousands of people would have died, and a similar tragic situation would have been seen around the world.
And you, MR VARGAS would have been RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT!
I invite you to post here, Mr. Vargas and explain your heinous act of TERRORISM!!
